Operation Power Up - After the Power!

Let’s take a look through the volume 285, also known as the last issue Nintendo Power. (For now.)
The cover features New Super Mario Bros U, as well as a giant homage to the first issue of Nintendo Power. This special issue featured articles that delved into the past 25 years of Nintendo Power, from going through the greatest moments of Nintendo Power, as well as current and former Nintendo Power editors sharing their memories while working on the world’s greatest gaming magazine. It also has reviews for games of 2012 as well.
The most heart touching moment in the magazine was the inclusion of the last Nester comic. It depicted an all grown up Nester reading the last issue of Nintendo Power.
The last page...
However this wasn’t a game over for all Nintendo Power readers. Some players decided to continue what Nintendo left off.
A Nintendo centric blog known as Pure Nintendo, created by Justin Sharp on June 13, 2006, launched a Kickstarter to create a subscription service for their new magazine, Pure Nintendo Magazine. Their magazine is a bi-monthly publication that comes in both digital and physical, (issue no. 6 being the first to be available in print.) It's nice to mention they offer a free digital subscription!
When the news of Nintendo Power cancellation was confirmed, IGN's Lucas M. Thomas created a magazine known as Nintendo Force. The staff of this magazine features staff members from many gaming websites. The first issue was released January 9, 2013. Nintendo Force is a bi-monthly magazine and also provides a digital and physical subscription, as well.
These magazines did attempt to capture the spirit of Nintendo Power, however it wasn’t enough for one group. A small programmer and big Nintendo gamer known as Jeremy A. started the campaign “Operation: Power Up” to convince Nintendo of America to bring back Nintendo Power and to prove NoA that people still want a Nintendo centric magazine. Our goal is to bring Nintendo Power back in a form for this generation such as a digital publication and or a interactive website. With Pure Nintendo, Nintendo Force and Official Nintendo Magazine, there's no doubt that gamers still want a Nintendo dedicated publication, and we hope that Nintendo of America would lend their support to Pure Nintendo or Nintendo Force so they can officially bring back the power. Operation Power Up @ The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses – Second Quest
On December 3, 2013, some of the members of Operation: Power Up attended The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses - Second Quest in San Antonio, Texas. We were there not only to enjoy this magnificent concert, but also to raise awareness of our campaign! We arrived dressed up as various Nintendo characters to help draw attention for our campaign. (Plus it was fun to do so!)
Here are some pictures of us with people who want to get back the power!

The symphony was simply wonderful! For those who have attended the concert the first time around, the Second Quest has new movements and visuals which were also amazing.
As a nice surprise for all us at Operation: Power Up, after the intermission, the producer and creative director of The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, Jeron Moore, was reading out the Miis that he StreetPassed on his 3DS on stage. He happened to StreetPass our mascot, Max, and then gave Operation Power Up a shout out!
At the end of the show, we even got to meet and take pictures with Jeron Moore. He supported our campaign!
He's holding vol. 34 Nintendo Power, featuring: LoZ: ALttP since A Link Between Worlds has been released in the US!

On a side note, we were at the symphony last year as well for the first season of the performance. Jeron Moore and conductor, Eimear Noone, both gave their blessing for our campaign.

For those new to Operation: Power Up, we’re a group of dedicated fans persuading Nintendo of America to bring back Nintendo Power as a digital publication and or a website. With fan publications such as Pure Nintendo and Nintendo Force, as well as the UK’s magazine, Official Nintendo Magazine, shows that there’s still a market for a dedicated Nintendo publication. Our mission is simple; we want to get back the Power, Nintendo Power!
